Eversolo DMP-A10 Streamer/DAC/preamp Reading the room

Commendably, up to this point Eversolo products have received regular over-the-air firmware updates. In 2024 a room calibration feature was added to the DMP-A8 [HFN May ’24], bettering the previous option of importing FIR filters from third-party measurement software such as REW. And the new DMP-A10 supports the feature, named Eversolo Digital Room Correction, ‘out of the box’.

Accessible through the touchscreen or Eversolo’s app, this requires a microphone measurement, made either using the in-built mic on a mobile device, or a USB microphone. Results from the latter will be a lot better, and Eversolo sells its EM-01 mic as a £68 option (for those already in possession of a USB mic, the software allows for the uploading of a calibration file). The room correction process itself is straightforward. After a quick level check, the measurement takes about 30 seconds, then you can review and ‘design’ a corrective filter which is added to a DSP preset for a particular source (for example, the internal player). In our experience it works well, although support for 2.1 set-ups is currently missing.
