Soulines tt9/KiVi M3 turntable/arm Turntables with soul

Soulines’ Igor Gligorov traces his love of music and sound reproduction back to the age of six, when he started to learn the cello, and became aware of the interactions of the vibrations of the instrument and the sounds it made. He remained fascinated by the connections between maths, music and physics during his teenage years before embarking on a degree in Mechanical Engineering, specialising in Naval Architecture. As Gligorov says, ‘In naval architecture, everything is based on the balance and control of the different forces, and turntable design and manufacturing is the same, just scaled down’.

Soulines, the company, dates back to 2009 when Gligorov finally took the decision to turn his hobby of recycling turntables from all sorts of unusual parts (see www.ttrecycled.com) into a full-time business. The company’s aim was to ‘combine musicality and beauty in an electro-mechanical object that plays vinyl records’. The result was the now-discontinued Hermes DCX [pictured above], with many more models following since.
