Gryphon Audio Diablo 333 Integrated amplifier Rune Skov

As Gryphon Audio’s Global Sales Director, Rune Skov also heads up its North American division, even though the company is resolutely based in Denmark. Its products are designed and developed in-house, with production shared between two trusted Danish EMS manufacturers ‘with whom we’ve had over 20 years of collaboration’. As for the Diablo 333 amplifier, Rune says the goal was to improve upon both the ‘mechanical and sonic performance’ of the outgoing Diablo 300. ‘Compared to its predecessor, the Diablo 333 offers enhanced width and depth... Additionally, it boasts superior headroom and improved low-frequency clarity.’

He also talks of ‘a sound reminiscent of a live performance’, so is this the company’s ultimate goal? ‘Each Gryphon product is engineered to preserve the purity of the input signal without introducing any colourations or distortions. This approach ensures that the original recording is accurately represented, whether it’s of high or low quality. Our goal is to achieve a sound as neutral as possible, with zero added tonal enhancements or distractions.’

Rune won’t be drawn on what’s next from Gryphon Audio – perhaps the company is recovering from the development of its flagship 202kg Apex monoblock power amplifiers. He does, however, insist that ‘our design approach remains rooted in the legacy’ of company founder Flemming E. Rasmussen, who retired in 2018, and that future models will respect Gryphon’s ‘heritage and Nordic origins’.
