Original LP
Ocean Rain was released in May 1984 on the Korova label in the UK and Europe [Kode 8, 240388-1], in a single sleeve with a lilac-coloured record bag with personnel and recording detail, and a photo of the string section from the Paris sessions.

In the US the LP arrived on Sire with a black inner sleeve [25084-1]. The Japanese edition was released on WEA/Korova [P-11480] with a silver-grey obi strip, and a six-page insert of liner notes and lyrics in both English and Japanese.

Cassette
The UK and European cassette came out on chrome dioxide tape and had grey shells with white paper labels [Korova CODE 8, 240 388-4]. In the US the Dolby HXPro cassette was released on Sire, with embossed shells [25084-4].

First CD Release
Ocean Rain was first released on silver disc in the US in 1984 [Sire/Korova 9 25084-2] and was followed the same year by a Japanese CD release on WEA/Korova [32XD-114]. The first European CD [WEA/Korova 240 388-2] also appeared in the same year [pictured above]. It was later reissued as a gold CD in 1989 with the same catalogue number.

The major addition to the standard CD came in 2003, with an expanded version of the album, remastered by Bill Inglot and Dan Hersch. In addition to the original nine album tracks was 'Angels And Devils', the B-side of 'Silver', and songs recorded at Liverpool Cathedral in July 1983 for the Channel 4 TV programme Play At Home – Life At Brian's: 'All You Need Is Love', 'The Killing Moon', 'Stars Are Stars', 'Villiers Terrace' and 'Silver'. There are also live versions of 'My Kingdom' and 'Ocean Rain' from the A Crystal Day concert at St George's Hall, Liverpool in May '84. This CD was released in the UK by Warner Strategic Marketing [2564-61165-2] and in the US on Sire/Rhino with the same catalogue number.

In 2008 Rhino and Korova released a double CD in Europe in the Collectors' Edition Series [5186-50451-5]. CD1 [pictured above] included the standard tracklisting remastered in 2003, plus 'Angels And Devils' and two extended 12in single versions, 'Silver (Tidal Wave)' and 'The Killing Moon (All Night Version)'. CD2 comprised 17 tracks from a concert at The Royal Albert Hall in July 1983.

Special Edition Vinyl
Vinyl 180 released a double LP in 2015 with the second LP comprising 'Angels And Devils', the five tracks recorded at Liverpool Cathedral for Life At Brian's, plus 'My Kingdom' and 'Ocean Rain' from the A Crystal Day concert. This came in a hardbound book and was limited to just 500 copies, with new sleeve notes by Will Sergeant, and now commands high prices [VIN180LP076]. In 2021 Korova released a 180g pressing of the LP on blue transparent vinyl [KODE 8].
