Wilson Audio TuneTot loudspeaker Lab Report
Forward frequency responses [Graph 1] were taken at 1m on the tweeter axis, a little below the axis recommended by Wilson, with grille removed and driver trim rings in place. The dip at around 3kHz and peak at 18.5kHz might well be reduced on the Wilson axis, improving on the high response errors of ±5.6dB and ±5.9dB (200Hz-20kHz). Pair matching, over the same frequency range, was good at ±0.8dB. Our diffraction-corrected near-field bass measurements show an odd LF behaviour. In reflex mode, bass extension is limited to 73Hz (–6dB re. 200Hz) and follows a whopping peak at 113Hz (+8dB re. 300Hz). By contrast with the port bung in place the extension improves to 55Hz and the upper-bass peaking is less extreme. The cleanest CSD waterfall [Graph 2] was obtained without either the grille or the driver trim ring fitted. There's a low-level resonance at 3kHz and the familiar high-Q 15kHz dome resonance from Wilson's tweeter, but otherwise the plot is pretty clean. KH
