Neat fires up Jet models
UK speaker maker Neat Acoustics has leveraged designs from its Ultimatum range for a new, more affordable Momentum Jet series debuting with the J-S standmount and J-6 floorstander [pictured]. Selling for £4995 and £9995, respectively, both use a JET AMT (Air Motion Transformer) tweeter sourced from ELAC instead of the soft dome/EMIT super-tweeter array of Neat’s Ultimatum speakers, and feature MDF rather than Finnish birch ply cabinets.
The 2.5-way Momentum J-6 is based on the Ultimatum XL6, and – in its upper sealed enclosure – marries the AMT unit to Neat’s 170mm R3 bass/mid driver. The lower ported section, mounted to an ‘Ultimatum style’ plinth, houses two down-firing 170mm woofers in an isobaric configuration. The two-way, rear-ported J-3, itself derived from the Ultimatum XLS, similarly benefits from isobaric bass loading of its 170mm bass/ mid. Initial finish options are Ebony Macassar and Figured Birch.
