Network Audio Players/Servers

The gold-coloured trim of Matrix Audio’s flagship hardware is reflected in the recent v4.0 iteration of the MA Remote App where new operational upgrades include filtering music by sample rate, bit-depth, format, etc, and greater layout customisation (particularly for iPad users). The focus of the app, however, is unchanged, working as both a music playback interface and tool for managing MA’s hardware.

Once installed on an iOS or Android device, and with the MS-1 on the same network (wired), the app will first inform you of any available firmware updates. Then you can begin finding music to play, whether from local USB or SSD storage, network shares, streaming sources – Tidal, Qobuz, and HighResAudio are integrated – or Internet radio, and selecting filter/upsampling/resampling modes.

Other features under ‘Settings’ include general housekeeping (auto standby configuration, etc) and more detailed tools to set the sample rate of the unit’s A/D conversion and MM/MC mode for the phono input.
